Description

The Hippopotamus is a large semi-aquatic mammal that wallows in the rivers and lakes of sub-Saharan Africa. Despite its appearance, the hippopotamus is believed to be most closely related to whales, as it is believed that both had a common ancestor that existed some 54 million years ago.
